Whether you’re deeply involved in all-things kink or more on the vanilla side of things, Bondage and BDSM play still has plenty to offer to almost anyone. Especially today, with these practices coming out into the light and becoming more mainstream than ever.
Wearing a choker in public has never been so normalized, and I firmly believe that’s how things should be… Though I might be a bit biased, running a website called Tabooless and all.
Before anyone @s me, know that I understand that Bondage and BDSM are two completely different subjects. But since there is plenty of overlap between the two when it comes to the tools used, I decided to bundle them together for the sake of simplicity.
Now before we get into suggestions and favorites, know that most of the best BDSM equipment is usually made by individuals & small companies, not big brands.
So if you’re really serious about your practice, you should really look into your own local fetish scene and attend fetish conventions where you’ll be able to find all the stuff that you might need.
Alternatively, if your local scene is thin to non-existent, Etsy and Fetlife are also two other great channels to get in touch with some quality fetish artisans for all your BDSM essentials. But these options can also be quite pricey and tricky to get to for some.
So if you’re looking for some good, accessible, and/or affordable online alternatives, this article is for you!
TL;DR
Wearables & BDSM Restraints
Cuffs & Bondage Straps
When it comes to bondage gear, this is where most people start. Heck, even some of the most vanilla folks out there have had some experience with Cuffs and straps and the various restraints BDSM has to offer. But these gateway bondage devices are still essential for pros and beginners alike, so don’t dismiss them just yet.
After all, Bondage straps, cuffs, and gags are the easiest way to tie up someone in a pinch, and there are tons of gorgeous items at your disposal to do so.
If you’re looking for the cheapest quality option around, most beginners and frugal folks swear by Sportsheets.
They have almost anything you need to get you started and while they don’t hold any leather options, most of their options are machine washable. So whether you’re looking for traditional BDSM restraints, spreader bars, or collars & leashes, they got you covered.
Their under the bed restraint kit will always remain a staple kit for anyone getting started since it includes everything you’ll need to tie anyone to your bed or to themselves. It’s also a must-have if you’re looking to tie someone to a bed without posts. All this versatility comes from the fact that you can easily tie the bondage restraints to each other to make simple hands and feet cuffs if the need arises as well.
Otherwise, if you’re in for some quality leather options that are still affordable, our favorite place to shop is definitely the Stockroom.
The Stockroom is a smorgasbord of independent & in-house brands aiming to bring you the best affordable quality fetish gear there is. It is easily my one-stop shop for bondage devices and BDSM equipment so you should find almost anything you need there.
If you’re in Europe, U.K. Based Uberkinky is another great alternative for affordable yet quality bondage gear.
CONCLUSION
If you’re looking for accessible, affordable, and quick & easy ways to tie up your sub or significant other, it doesn’t get much better than this folks!
WHERE TO BUY
Ball Gags & Bit Gags
Gags, like most restraints for BDSM, are all about deprivation.
When it comes to materials, most options will do, but sticking to silicone for the gag itself will ensure that it’ll last a long time while still remaining hygienic. This is all thanks to silicone being non-porous and easily sanitized. Something that can be quite useful if you have more than one sub.
To sanitize silicone gags, simply remove these BDSM toys from their straps and boil them for a few minutes. If the gag can’t be removed, a simple 10% bleach water solution wash followed by a thorough rinse will also do the trick.
Being a mouthful, ball gags are perfect for restricting the user’s speech and breathing.
It’s also not uncommon to drool while wearing one, so it can be rather humiliating for the person wearing it. So this is definitely something to keep in mind when you’re seeking to dish out some punishment!
If you’d rather have a gag you can bite on, you’re better off going with a bit gag.
These will also protect the corners of the mouth of the sub, which can get irritated when the bondage straps can reach the mouth.
Also, being able to bite down on these during especially rough play is quite useful, allowing you to push the pain further than you normally would sans bit gag.
It’s also easier to breathe and talk with these, so definitely consider this when making your choice.
If you’d rather have a ball gag but still wish to protect the corners of the mouth, we’re especially fond of this ball gag in the Dildo Dealer Household. The Beautiful Fabric strap is also removable, so it is easy to hand or machine wash.
CONCLUSION
Whether you need to silence a bratty sub or just give them something to bite on, gags have a lot to offer.
Just stick to silicone if you want your gags to live long hygienic lives.

Shibari Rope
With its origins tracing back to ancient Japan, this practice sure has come a long way.
Originally used to restrain captives by Samurais and law enforcement, this beautiful art form of DIY restraints has now transcended to the wonderful world of kink. So if you’re looking to make your own beautiful homemade BDSM restraints, this is definitely the best tool for the job!
And unlike traditional restraints for BDSM practices, Shibari isn’t only about restraining folks.
It’s a science as much as it is a form of artistic expression, with complex and beautiful designs being the norm.
The positioning of the ropes along with the careful placement of knots can stimulate pressure points along the body to great effect. And it’s not uncommon for people to land in “Sub Space”, a euphoric and trance-like experience caused by a cocktail of endorphins & other hormones being released in the body.
This also means that Shibari has quite a learning curve for the aspiring rigger.
So it is very important that you get familiar with the practice since plenty of harm can be done by cutting circulation to vital parts of the body.
If you really wish to pursue this wonderful hobby, finding a good workshop from a respected rigger in your community is your best bet.
But to get you started, there are still some pretty good resources out there:
The Two Knotty Boys books are highly praised across the web, but in our opinion, they’re a little dated and focus a tad too much on aesthetic ties as opposed to practical ones. But if the visual aspect of Shibari is your thing, there’s still plenty to love here.
Complete Shibari Vol. 1 by Douglas Kent is much more practical and packed with pictures to help you work your way up from the most basic ties to more complex DIY restraints. This is the better option for complete beginners since it teaches the philosophies and roles of the riggers and subs in detail as well.
Alternatively, Twisted Monk has loads of great video tutorials on their youtube channel also.
Speaking of Twisted Monk, they’re by far one of the best rope companies you’ll find today.
And while they specialize in ethically sourced hemp rope, their extensive collection does include other common options as well as other exotic ropes.
The colors they offer are gorgeous, with a few unique multicolored options available as well.
And many of you will be glad to know that their dying and conditioning process is a 100% eco-friendly.
Otherwise, their curiosity kits are a great start if you wish to learn the ropes ( wink wink ) since they all include an instructional DVD along with enough rope to get you started.
If you’re a fan of electrostimulation, they also make beautiful electroconductive ropes that will work with most Violet wands and Estim boxes! Just don’t use these for suspension since they aren’t made to support the weight of a human being.
CONCLUSION
Shibari goes far beyond BDSM and Bondage. It is a beautiful art form and science that requires plenty of patience and education. But it is well worth it for those courageous enough to make the jump!
WHERE TO BUY
Bondage Tape
I’m really perplexed as to why bondage tape isn’t more popular because, ever since trying it, I’ve felt like this should be an indispensable tool for ANY bondage gear enthusiasts! It might also be one of the best restraint systems for BDSM beginners as well.
Bondage Tape is a tape that only sticks to itself. So it won’t rip skin or hair, making it a great universal BDSM & Bondage tool.
It’s a fast and efficient way of making quick DIY restraints for BDSM and bondage. Tying someone to a bedpost or to themselves has never been easier. Plus, you can easily gag ( after putting something in their mouth ) or blindfold someone without causing any unwanted suffering upon removal!
While it won’t be as secure as some other types of BDSM restraints, if you wrap it around itself multiple times, it can get pretty hard to break free from. But still, if you have a particularly strong and/or bratty sub, they might still be able to liberate themselves if they wanted to.
The best feature of bondage tape is really how quick & easy it is to use during intercourse compared to restraints BDSM tends to normally favor.
If you’ve done any kind of bondage, you’ll know that ropes, cuffs & bondage straps can take quite a while to set up. Something that can easily interrupt your state of arousal at the moment.
With bondage tape though, you can easily tie someone up WHILE having sex, no interruption needed. This is why it has become such a favorite in our household, and why I know it’ll become a favorite of yours as well.
These are the most beginner-friendly homemade BDSM restraints. Think of this as Shibari on easy mode!
I still appreciate all the anticipation of methodically tying someone up with traditional bondage gear, and in some ways, it can be even more secure than tape, which adds to the feeling of restriction. But this tape really shines for when both of you just can’t wait to get down to business!
Bondage Tape is also entirely reusable!
Once you are done, if you carefully unroll these bondage restraints, it is possible to salvage and reuse the tape. It does tend to crumple upon itself so you’ll have to be extra careful when rerolling the tape ( I like keeping an empty roll for this purpose ). Still, bondage tape is pretty cheap, so it isn’t dramatic if your used tape is beyond salvaging.
You might need some safety scissors.
I highly suggest using them, as they’ll make it safer to handle mid & post-play. Plus, I’d much rather loose safety scissors in the bed than my sharpest pair!
CONCLUSION
Since bondage tape only sticks to itself, it’s a great way of rapidly tying, blindfolding, or even gagging someone up! So if you don’t have the time or patience to go with the traditional approach, or you only have room for one bondage item in your luggage, this is it, folks!
WHERE TO BUY
Blindfolds & Hoods
As mentioned earlier, most bondage and BDSM essentials are about inducing a sense of deprivation to the sub.
And following that trend, blindfolds and hoods are some of the most powerful BDSM tools to incorporate into your practice.
Sensory deprivation, while simple in practice, can be more intense than any other type of restriction.
This is because blocking out one or more of your senses forces your remaining sensory receptors to sharpen and intensify in an attempt to compensate.
So it is not uncommon for folks to feel, smell, hear & taste more intensely when blindfolded.
Couple that with a certain loss of self, making the sensory-deprived less self-conscious and more likely of letting go of self-imposed restrictions and you’ve got yourself a cocktail for a potent experience.
This feeling can also be felt by the dominant party as well. Not having any eyes on them, they’re freer to truly embrace the moment, without having to think about looking the part during the whole ordeal.
You don’t have to invest much to get into sensory deprivation.
All you really need is some sort of scarf, sleep mask, or even a pillow, which are all restraints BDSM essentials that most of you should have handy anyway.
But if you want to push things even further, earplugs can make the sensation of isolation even more intense!
For this reason, most dedicated blindfolds are mostly sold for aesthetic appeal. So if you’re not that into the BDSM equipment look, they can easily be skipped entirely.
On the other hand, hoods are a little different and a little harder to substitute.
Hoods can be quite varied as different models can target different senses.
Some might be more about preventing you to speak, see or hear, while others will do it all at once. Many models are also entirely adjustable, allowing you to restrict the senses of your choosing at any given moment.
Plus, having your whole head covered can really help with the sense of isolation and anonymity.
Some hoods will focus entirely on anonymity. They’ll allow you to see, hear and speak all you want. These hoods are solely meant to hide the identity of the wearer, something that can be quite interesting at BDSM parties.
Just like the blindfold, it’ll allow the wearer to feel less self-conscious and able to fully express themselves without the fear of being discovered.
CONCLUSION
When you’re looking for a way to intensify your bondage & BDSM experiences, blindfolds & hoods are hard to skip.
Sensory deprivation and a lack of self-awareness can really go a long way, so don’t underestimate these powerful tools!
WHERE TO BUY
Collars, Chokers, and Body Harnesses
Leather BDSM gear might seem like it is all about aesthetics, and while the visuals do help to get into the mood, it couldn’t be further from the truth.
The most common type of fetish wear is by far the Collar.
Doubling as a leash when the need arises, the collar is an item usually worn by the sub or slave in the relationship as a proof of ownership.
It’s essentially the BDSM equivalent of a wedding ring!
These items range from sturdy leather bondage straps to more symbolic and decorative chokers that would easily pass as fashion statements when out in public.
Body Harnesses are another staple of wearable bondage.
Originally popularized as gay BDSM gear, these have become quite the staple in the fetish scene, no matter which orientation or gender you might have.
Just like the collar, they could be worn outside as a statement, but they can also be used to grab onto or in conjunction with other bondage restraints.
This is because it is rather easy to use the straps and rings found on a bondage harness to attach the arms and legs of the wearer to their own body, amongst many other things.
Just like with most leather BDSM equipment, your local fetish community, Etsy and FetLife are probably the best places to look. But there is still plenty of good stuff to be found around the web as well.
Being essentially one of the oldest fetish stores around, it’s hard to miss the Stockroom’s selection. So if you’re looking for some good affordable leather, look no further.
Otherwise, if you’re the type who likes to wear bondage straps and body harnesses in public, our favorite company for that purpose is definitely Bijoux Indiscrets.
They carry all sorts of fashionable BDSM-inspired items that you certainly won’t be shy to show off in public.
CONCLUSION
If you’re serious about your BDSM and Bondage addiction, collars & body harnesses are where it’s at.
It’s a great way to show off your colors behind closed doors or even when out and about!
WHERE TO BUY
Aslan Forced Orgasm Wand Harness
Ahhh forced orgasms, another staple of bondage and BDSM!
The only issue with this practice is that it can be quite hands-on and involved, preventing the dom from simultaneously applying other methods to their subs.
But if you’re the proud owner of a Wand ( another forced orgasm staple ) you will probably fall in love with the Aslan Forced Orgasm harness!
I’ve tried other cheap harnesses of this type but nothing beats the stability, quality, and look of this harness!
It’s not even my Canadian bias speaking either, I loved Aslan even before I knew they were from this distant land of “Canadia”.
This harness will work with most full-sized wands.
Just to be safe, I would still stick with wands that are compatible with “Hitachi” Magic Wand attachments since it’s become quite the standard over the years!
CONCLUSION
This is the most affordable way to achieve forced orgasms other than just manually holding a wand against your sub.
Plus, Aslan harnesses are all of the highest quality and they look hot as hell compared to your cheap and unstable made in china wand holders!
If you thought wands were some of the best BDSM sex toys around, wait until you get your hands on this harness.

BDSM Tools
Spanking / Impact Tools
For those who enjoy a fair bit of pain, impact play can be quite exhilarating. But before the fun, here are a few notes on safety:
Playing Safe
While you can get spanked all over the place, there are a few “red zones” that should be avoided at all costs.
Joints and bony areas like the head, neck, and articulations should be avoided at all costs. It’s also very easy to hit and even fracture the tailbone when aiming for the ass cheeks, so please be careful and ghost your swings before going full force.
There are also a few areas that aren’t necessarily dangerous but still remain extremely sensitive and should be avoided or played with very softly. The most common are the inside of the thighs, the palms of the hands, the soles of the feet, as well as the armpits.
No matter where you want to strike, as a general rule, start softly and work your way up in intensity.
Including a safe word, a pain scale of 1 to 10, or using the simpler “stoplights” method ( Green, yellow or red ) will help tremendously with communication while playing. And communication is especially important during impact play.
Finally, cleanliness is also very important since these BDSM toys might get into contact with blood and other fluids. So please wash your tools thoroughly between uses and avoid sharing them between untested partners.
The Tools
First of all, impact play doesn’t have to be expensive at all.
Hands, wooden spoons, and flat hairbrushes are all common tools used in the practice that you can easily find around the house. But if you wish to push things a little further, dedicated BDSM tools are pretty hard to beat.
Floggers are the most common BDSM whips, since full-on whips are mostly meant to tear and damage skin, which isn’t the most playful thing!
Floggers on the other hand are some of the most forgiving tools at lower velocities since they spread their impact throughout their multiple tails. But it is not impossible to break the skin if you put some of your back into it. So still treat these BDSM whips with respect.
Use them to softly tickle your victims between lashes to build tension and anticipation.
Riding crops are fun and accessible to use. The small impact zone also means that they’re more on the stingy side of pain. Still, be careful during play since they’re quite aerodynamic by design, so it’s easy to go overboard.
You should also be very careful not to hit your SO or Sub with the stick itself since this can cause some serious unwanted pain.
Paddles have the largest impact zones of the bunch, so you’ll get more of a thud than a sting. Of course, the material they come in has a lot to do with this, with leather paddles stinging more than wooden ones.
Just keep in mind that you have to be especially careful with bony areas and you should avoid tailbones at all costs!
Canes/Rods are extremely stingy due to their small impact area. They cut through air like a hot knife through butter, so you’ll have to use a lot of restraint while swinging.
It’s also very important that you inspect these tools prior to any impact play since they’re rather easy to break. And no one likes an ass full of splinters!
BDSM whips are the most dangerous of the bunch and should definitely be left to the professionals. This is because it is extremely easy to break the skin and take an eye out if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Still, If you’re really into the idea of getting your own BDSM whip, take classes with renowned people in your local fetish scene and make sure you’re really good at it before attempting anything on anyone.
I know we’re starting to sound like a broken record, but again, most of the best BDSM tools will be found in your local fetish scene. But it is not impossible to find something decent around the web either.
Otherwise, if you’re looking for some other affordable and decent options, by now you should know I’m a sucker for The Stockroom’s selection. Of course, if you’re in Europe, U.K.-based Uberkinky is definitely the way to go.
Cane-Iac is another great resource for affordable hand-made canes.
CONCLUSION
If you’re looking on inflicting or receiving some pain of your own, these items should get you well on your way!
Just be sure to follow our safety guidelines to a tee and everything should be fine.
WHERE TO BUY
Nipple Clamps
May it be for pleasure, breast torture or as a form of restraint, nipple clamps can serve many roles.
But one thing is for sure; there are almost as many types of nipple clamps as there are types of people. So it can get a little overwhelming for the inexperienced.
Whether you feel pleasure or torture will 100% depend on your own nipple sensitivity as well as the clamp used.
Even if we say that some clamps might be better suited for pleasure, if you’re extra sensitive, chances are they might feel like quite the opposite to you. So keep that in mind when reading through the rest of this entry.
The sensations experienced during nipple play can also be heightened by using weighted or vibrating clamps.
Common clothespins & crocodile style nipple clamps are often bordering between pleasure and torture depending on the strength of their springs. Also, not being adjustable, these can be rather hit & miss. This is especially true when ordering online since you won’t be able to test them out prior to buying them.
If you do decide to use common plastic or wooden clothespins, you’re also better off discarding them after use since they can’t be fully sanitized.
Screw clamps are the most versatile of the bunch, hence why they are my favorites.
The tightness provided by these clamps is adjusted by a little screw on the clamp themselves. Therefore, these can provide pain or pleasure, depending on how tight you set them up.
Tweezer clamps are a bit less precise since they’re loosely held together by a ring that slides up and down the length of the clamps to adjust their tightness. So it’s not uncommon for them to loosen up over time, forcing you to readjust them mid-play.
The main advantage is that being much smaller and pinpoint, they’ll provide a sharper pain and/or stimulation to the user. They also look more delicate and “feminine” than your standard screw clamp.
Nipple pumps are meant to offer a pleasurable suction to the nipples. But depending on the model, it’s not impossible to enter the realm of torture if you keep sucking air out of the tubes.
The increased blood flow will also make your nipples more much more sensitive, making further nipple play even more intense if you wish to go that route.
Japanese butterfly/clover Clamps are the most intense and painful of the bunch.
The more you pull on these BDSM toys, the more pressure they will provide, so adding chains and bondage restraints to them can be especially powerful.
Chained nipple clamps come in almost any clamp style. The chain itself usually adds some weight, providing extra sensation to the wearer. But the real appeal comes from using them as a form of restraint.
When wrapped around a post or through restraints like collars and cuffs, they’ll limit the movements of your sub to a great degree and any sudden movements will result in a tug on their nipples to punish them in return!
CONCLUSION
It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for pleasure or pain, nipple clamps can be enjoyed by almost anyone.
Plus, with the wide variety of options at your disposal, the possibilities they provide are almost endless!
WHERE TO BUY
Candles for Wax Play
Wax Play is a BDSM act that lies under the larger umbrella of temperature play. Of course, while temperature play is all about the sensations provided by hot & cold conditions, wax play focuses solely on the warmer side of temperature play.
Before we get into my favorite tools for wax play, it’s good to take note of what NOT to do:
- You should avoid beeswax as well as anything scented & colored. All these factors lead to higher melting points, rendering the wax too hot for the skin by the time it’s liquid enough to be poured.
- Don’t pour directly onto the skin. You must let the wax drip down so it can be cooled by the air on the way down. You also have to pour high enough for the wax to cool a bit but not so high that the wax splashes upon landing. ( Hot wax in your eyes is never fun, newfound blindness is even worst! )
- Speaking about hot wax in the eyes, it’s best to avoid the face altogether. It’s extremely hard to remove wax from head and body hair and you definitely don’t want any of that stuff to pool into any of your orifices either as valleys will prevent the wax from cooling thanks to the insulation your body will provide. FYI, In this scenario, the belly button & butt cracks count as orifices as well!
- Avoid pouring over fabrics you wish to keep. This includes clothing, the sheets your lying on, lingerie, etc. Washing wax in a washing machine can cause clogs, malfunctions, and straight-up house fires, so it’s best you avoid it entirely. Use cheap bed sheets you don’t mind throwing away or ( pro tip alert! ) painter’s disposable drop cloths instead.
Alternatively, here are a few things you SHOULD do:
- Test the heat of the wax on the inside of your own wrist, followed by your partner’s. Pain tolerance is down to the individual, but if it’s too hot for you, chances are it’ll be too hot for your sub as well.
- Keep a bucket of water, a wet towel, or a fire extinguisher handy just in case something goes wrong. I promise you the outcome will be a thousand times better if you come prepared!
- Start with the back. It is the least sensitive skin on your body, so if it still happens to be too warm ( even though you did prior wrist tests! ) you’ll be less likely to suffer a nasty burn where the skin is more tender. It’s also always better to start low and build up as opposed to going too far too quickly. It’s a lot like impact play, where a few playful prior slaps make the more impactful hits that follow much more tolerable!
- Use body-safe oils and/or ice ( optional ). Prior oil massages make the wax easier to remove after the fact. You can also use massage oils or ice at the end to help with removal as well! Ice hardens wax so it’s easier to peel and oil helps to loosen it from the skin. If oils are used beforehand, avoid warming or rubbing to the point of warmth as it’ll lower your sub’s tolerance to the heat. Things need to heat up before they can burn, therefore, cool skin can take much more heat than its already warm counterpart.
If you prefer traditional wax play, unscented & uncolored paraffin candles are the gold standard.
Paraffin’s melting point is very low, so the wax doesn’t have to be piping hot to turn into its liquid form! Plus, these candles are usually easy to find and dirt cheap. Just make sure you buy completely white candles as paraffin candles come in all sorts of colors!
One thing to note is that if you’re going to be using these in a small unventilated room, unscented soy candles might be safer for your health, though they are a bit more expensive.
My favorite beginner-friendly candles for wax play are ( cue drum roll ) massage candles!
They’re much more forgiving in terms of heat and ruining fabrics as they act more like massage oils. Well, massage oils that turn into massage creams as they cool down that is. So the worst it’ll do to your blankets is give them a mean oil stain. The oil can still get pretty hot, so you should always blow out the candle before pouring.
Massage candles also give you the chance to use scents, something that should normally be avoided with standard wax.
Of course, massage candles won’t harden the same way real wax will, which can be an oddly satisfying sensation. So massage candles aren’t a total replacement for the classic stuff.
While I suggest this option for beginners, even old pros like me can still enjoy them. For one, they require way less preparation and clean-up than real wax. Plus, you can’t do massages with candle wax and my back hurts!
If you don’t know what to pick, my favorite brand is Shunga. Though I am a little biased as it is a local company and don’t worry, it’s sold everywhere! Biases aside, I particularly enjoy their scents and the nicely shaped containers that work extremely well for pouring compared to the competition’s circular containers. It’s a mix of your traditional massage candle and the wax pitchers below and I just love that shit!
Agreeable Agony’s Wax Play Pitchers are perfect if you’re serious about Wax Play.
These paraffin candle pitchers make precision pouring a breeze. While the Wax is colored, the dyes used in these candles only warm up the wax 1 to 2 Fahrenheit more, so you probably won’t feel it.
Agreeable Agony offers both standard and UV light reactive colors, so if you’re a rave-kid at heart… well, you’re welcome!
As with most candles that come in a container, it’s better to blow the flame out before pouring the pool of wax that has accumulated in the pitcher. This way you’ll avoid soot and disproportionally hot spots while pouring.
CONCLUSION
Wax play is probably one of the most popular and fun ways to enjoy the warmer side of temperature play. Plus, depending on how involved or vanilla you want it to be, there are lots of options to choose from that should fit most play styles!
WHERE TO BUY
Violet Wands
Violet Wands are the safest and easiest way to get into Electro Stimulation.
It’s also one of the most iconic BDSM sex toys ever made!
The sensations provided by them are more on the surface than internal and muscular. This prevents inexperienced folks from causing any type of serious damage. Something that can become a reality when Estim boxes are misused.
Just don’t stay at the same spot for too long since prolonged exposure can cause some minor burns. But this shouldn’t be much of a problem since it’s typical and even natural to move from a spot to another while using them.
What does it feel like?
Well, depending on the intensity you set it on, it ranges from a soft tickling sensation to sharp prickly shocks. Seeing the purple arcs of electricity leave the electrodes and hit the skin is also a big part of the thrill as well.
Violet wands come with a variety of attachments, some more pinpoint and others, that will scatter the sensations across larger or smaller surface areas. What extension you choose really depends on what you might like, so exploration is key here.
But electrodes aren’t limited to probes, flat and comb shapes. For example, electric floggers and ropes ( as seen in our rope entry ) are all great options to push your bondage and BDSM play to the next level.
And we’re especially fond of the Power Tripper, an attachment worn by the wand holder that will electrify their touch, turning them into the electrode.
The best wands right now are the KinkLab Neon Wand and the classic Nova Violet Wand.
The KinkLab Neon Wand is the cheaper of the two, and while the power should be enough for most, those who are looking for extra power will probably prefer the more expensive Nova Violet Wand.
Alternatively, another good option that is closer to the KinkLab Wand in terms of strength is the Agent Noir Wand Kit which comes with every attachment you might need. Flogger and Power Tripper included!
The whole kit comes packaged in a beautiful silver attache case, so you can finally feel like the spy you always wanted to be.
CONCLUSION
Electrostimulation doesn’t have to be dangerous or complicated and Violet wands are perfect for anyone who wants to keep their stimulation on the surface.
Otherwise, if you’re into more deep muscular electrostimulation, the next entry will probably suit your needs better.
WHERE TO BUY
Estim Kits
Based on the medical EMS ( electromuscular stimulation ), Estim is much less in surface than what Violet wands have to offer.
The sensations provided range anywhere from pleasurable tingly contractions to straight-up pain if it is what you’re looking to achieve. And the electrodes can be used externally or internally, depending on the attachment you choose.
Plus, when used on or in genitalia, it is perfectly normal and common to have the contractions drive you to full-on orgasm!
This practice can potentially be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing, so read these safety guidelines carefully:
First of all, they should never be used on the head or across the chest since it is possible to disrupt the heart’s rhythm, which could lead to a host of complications.
As a rule of thumb, staying below the waist will keep things safe.
But If you’re really looking to stimulate the nipples, connecting one electrode to a nipple and the other one somewhere else down below is your safest bet.
You won’t be able to use any of the electrodes without a Power Box.
And while most medical units will work, you’ll probably want to stick to the dedicated devices, since they limit their use to prevent cell death and other health complications related to electrocution.
The most powerful and popular devices are the ET-312B by Erostek and the E-Stim Systems 2B as they have the most features and customization options on the market.
But if you’re looking for a cheaper, more beginner-friendly option, the Electropebble might suit your needs better. It’s also a great option for pros looking for a more portable alternative to the bigger power boxes.
External Electrodes are extremely versatile and a ton of fun for stimulating the outside of the body and genitalia.
They range from simple medical pads to full-on masturbators. With these, you will need to use a good conductive gel, since the skin isn’t the most conductive material and a lack of gel might cause minor burns.
Internal Electrodes, on the other hand, provide electrode equivalents to almost any insertable sex toy imaginable.
With these, you should avoid any silicone-based lubes since silicone is an insulator. Instead, you will want to either use a good water-based lube or a conductive lube made specifically for that purpose.
These conductive lubes can be hard to get your hands on but adding a touch of saline to any water-based lube is a great alternative. Just make sure to reapply lube to your electric BDSM sex toys as often as possible, since water-based lubes have a tendency of quickly drying up.
Estim is a huge subject and will probably need its own dedicated article in the future. Meanwhile, the Estim Reddit Wiki is a must-read for anyone looking to get into the practice.
CONCLUSION
Estim may not be ( literally and figuratively ) for the faint of heart, but for those with the courage, it can lead to some pretty mind-blowing orgasms.
Just make sure you play safe and follow the health guidelines carefully!

In our Sybian alternatives review, it didn’t take much testing to notice how amazing the Motorbunny was when it came to bondage devices.
Not only it was deemed one of the best Sybian alternatives for the money, but also the best saddle-style vibrator for BDSM and bondage!
That’s because the Motorbunny comes with 4 O-rings at its base to attach any restraints you might need, making it the king of BDSM sex toys in my humble opinion!
It also helps that they sell dedicated bondage restraints for BDSM aficionados as well, but if you’ve already got your own, with minor adjustments, you should be able to make them work flawlessly as well!
So it doesn’t take much imagination to figure out how great this is for lovers of forced orgasms! This bondage device is probably the most powerful vibrator around and coupled with the rotations and restraints, there’s really no escaping said orgasms!
Do you like to be a Submit/Dominate from any distance? More reasons to love the Motorbunny as it can be controlled over any distance with its app!
Long-distance domships aren’t always easy, but this feature should make it much easier!
Plus, if the dom is busy at the moment, subs can kill time playing with Motorbunny’s bone-rattling games like Fappy Bunny!
Yep, that’s a shameless ripoff of flappy bird specifically made to get you off!
Finally, if you prefer more traditional penetrative motions to Sybian-style rotations, you’ll probably be happy to hear that their penetrative variant “Buck” also comes with restraint O-Rings!
Of course, this one is a bit more expensive than the OG model but it is well worth it, especially since you can skip buying a traditional fuck machine & and a stockade restraint system which would probably end up being a bit pricier in the long run!
CONCLUSION
The restraint O-Rings on this powerful Sybian alternative makes this sex machine one of the most effective tools for dishing out quick and intense forced orgasms!
Plus, the long-distance features will allow you to keep in touch even when far apart!

Chastity Cages
Orgasm control is one of the most satisfying ways to dominate your Sub. And there’s no better way to get complete control over your SO or Sub than using a chastity device.
These chastity devices will prevent anyone from engaging in any genital stimulation, may it be intercourse or masturbation, unless permission is granted by the Key Holder, of course.
Male chastity cages are the most common and are very popular bondage toys for men. They can be worn both for short or extended periods of time. This is because most models will allow you to go to the bathroom and wash as needed thanks to well-placed holes on the devices.
Female chastity belts are a bit more of a niche since they can only be worn for short periods of time. This is because you definitely can’t go to the bathroom with these on. It’s also not impossible to wiggle around and rub on them for stimulation. So watch out for the particularly bratty subs!
Because of their tricky nature, most folks use these for bladder control, a practice that can be dangerous since it can lead to health complications if not done carefully. So please be careful when you play folks.
Still, the best way to include orgasm denial with female subs is simply to tie them up real good. Especially when they can’t be trusted to follow directions!
The best chastity cages for men you can get today are the CB-X.
These time-tested bondage toys for men have become the standard and inspiration for most modern chastity devices.
So not only are they sturdy and hard to escape from, but it’s also very easy to find parts for them from local and online sex shops.
The CB-6000 is their smaller model, perfect for those who have an average or smaller flaccid size. They’re also perfect for those of us who enjoy a snug fit.
The CB-3000 is their larger and classic bondage devices, made for those with a flaccid size girthier than the norm or for those who’d like a bit more space to breathe.
The Curve is their longer model and should be perfect for anyone who hangs lower than the norm.
If you’d rather go with a Stainless Steel model, the chastity cages from Bon4 are definitely the next best thing.
Their stainless steel options come in either small, medium or large and the quality and security are on par with the CB-X devices.
CONCLUSION
If you’re all about that orgasm control, these chastity devices are hard to pass.
Sadly, there really isn’t really a perfect option for women, so you might have to get a little more creative with female subs!

Sex Furniture
While beds are perfectly fine for tying subs and SOs up, they sure aren’t optimal.
For one, having to change an entire set of sheets every time things get a little messy is definitely a chore. They also limit your options in terms of positioning and comfort as well.
This is where sex furniture swoops in and saves the day. So throughout the course of this entry, we’ll go over some of the best options available today.
Liberator makes pillows, throws, and sex furniture built for sexual intercourse. All models are very easily washed and their covers are removable and machine washable.
They recently released the Black Label Line, which took many of their classic products and rigged them up with clips to attach restraints to them, making them perfect bondage devices in the process. So whether you’re looking for a simple wedge or a full-on bondage sex sofa based off their popular Esse, they got you covered!
The only downside with the line is that you’ll need to use their official restraints.
The Stockroom’s Stockade is one of our favorite all-in-one solutions.
All parts of the stockade are entirely adjustable and it comes with a “fuck bar” ( their words, not mine ), an extra arm meant to hold any dildo with a base under 2 inches of girth.
The fuck bar can be locked into place as a form of “internal restraint”, loosened up for penetration or discarded entirely.
Couple any of those with a sex machine or some spanking tools, and you’ve got yourself a pretty ruthless combo.
They also offer the great Slave driver which is essentially the same concept, but this time around the “fuck bar” is replaced by a full-on fuck machine!
When it comes to sex furniture, slings are probably the most iconic devices of the bunch.
Originally popularized as gay BDSM toys ( gay men have been at the forefront of this scene for a while! ), they’ve become a staple of the scene overall, with even some of the tamest heterosexual couples falling under its charm!
This is entirely justified because these are some pretty versatile pieces of equipment. For one, being entirely adjustable, they’ll make uncomfortable but intense positions much cozier for the person on the receiving end.
Slings will also allow for deeper and longer sex with less effort for all parties involved. Couple them with sex machines and you’ve got yourself a perfect setup for forced orgasms.
Plus, the sling stands used by themselves work rather well for rope suspension as well. Something that can be quite useful when you don’t have the luxury of being able to install hooks into your ceiling.
There’s a lot to unpack here so head on to our dedicated entry for all of our suggestions! For those with full-on dungeons and/or serious money to spend, there’s a host of decadent furniture to be found.
Ranging from medieval-style stockades and BDSM cages to full-size bondage beds, there’s really no limit to what can be done.
Still, these options are for the truly dedicated since they can’t really be easily camouflaged or folded under the bed. So make sure you have the space before indulging!
CONCLUSION
If these practices are more than an occasional hobby to you, chances are that you’ll eventually want to invest in some serious furniture for your home or dungeon. Whether you’re looking for a stealthy option or something that just screams kink to anyone who dares to enter, there’s definitely something for you.
Sex furniture is a huge subject on its own, so head onto our dedicated article if you wish to learn more!
